JAMK is a multi-disciplinary non-profit institution of higher education owned by public bodies and financed mostly by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.  JAMK cooperates with companies and organisations at regional, national and international levels. Its R&D work aims especially at the promotion of SME entrepreneurship and public sector, and the improvement of their operative preconditions.

JAMK has defined six focus areas in its strategy and cybersecurity is one of them. Within the focus areas, JAMK is regionally and nationwide connected strongly to the development of enterprises and authorities through various R&D projects. JAMK has signed several cooperation agreements related to cyber security and JAMK is one of the founder members of ECSO.

JAMK participates in the development work of usable security as well as the road-mapping and use cases on incident reporting and medical data. As well as contributing to dissemination tasks, JAMK participates in the work on skills training and certification tools.
