Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic, recognized for its teaching and research institutions. The project is realized at the Faculty of Informatics, Centre for Research on Cryptography and Security (CRoCS). CRoCS works to improve security and privacy through applied research (often in cooperation with industry) and advanced education of future security professionals. CRoCS has carried out research projects in the areas of network security, user and data authentication, public-key infrastructures, tamper-resistant hardware devices; applied cryptography, privacy modelling and usable security.

Masaryk University leads the work on open tools and infrastructures for certification and validation; with particular emphasis on open tools. Furthermore, MU provides the open cyber range with selected tools for specific training uses, is involved in activities of selecting example tools for one certification showcase and suggesting tools and cyber ranges as well as examining the exploitation of open tools for standardization procedures and related activities.
